Xperimania IV Equality Competitions
In the framework of the International Year of Chemistry – IYC – 2011, Xperimania has launched two competitions on the “role of women in chemistry” for EU secondary students from 14 to 21 years old.
For the first one: “Portrait of a woman chemist” students will have to create a portrait of a woman from their country who has a career in chemistry or petrochemistry. Entries must include either a 3 to 4 minute video interview of the female scientist conducted in the local language with a script translated into English, or a Power Point presentation displaying pictures of their investigation and key content from the interview.
For the second one: “Create a Campaign on Women and Chemistry” students, in groups of maximum 3 people, will have to create a message/campaign related to the gender gap in chemistry studies and careers, and the role of women in this sector. They should come up with various dissemination tools (posters, videos, postcards, a blog…). The material should be accompanied by a communication plan for the project, which should include pictures, presentations and other materials. Entries can be in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Polish. The teacher/moderator must provide an English summary of the submission.
Deadline: 30 September 2011
