European Union Women Innovators Prize
The Prize for Women Innovators aims to increase public attention to Europe’s need of more innovators and it encourages well educate women researchers to exploit the commercial and business opportunities offered by their research projects, become entrepreneurs and therefore help to achieve the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy.
The European Commission will award up to three ‘Prizes for Women Innovators.The prizes will not reward research or innovation proposed for the future, but results that have been already obtained. The prizes will be awarded to individuals who have brought about outstanding innovation.
The contestant must be a woman.
The contestant must be a resident of an EU Member State or a country associated to the Research Framework Programme. (Israel, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Turkey, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Faroe Islands)
The contestant must be the founder or co-founder of an existing and active company.
The company has been registered before 1 January 2009.
The annual turnover of the company was at least EUR 0.10 million in 2009 or 2010.
Either the candidate as a natural person or the company founded/co-founded by the candidate has received or is receiving EU funding from Research Framework Programme(s) (R&D FP) or from the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP).

High Scientific content of the innovation
The winners will be announced at the Innovation Convention in Brussels on 5 December 2011. Three prizes are awarded:
First prize: Ђ 100.000
Second prize: Ђ 50.000
Third prize: Ђ 25.000
The winners will be invited to attend the European Innovation Convention 2011 and will meet the Commissioner and other leading political, scientific and business figures.
